{House Beautiful}
I'm a little bit country! Are you?
I love the country charm of the bedroom above from the February issue of House Beautiful. The soft and interesting color palette, the mix of the checks and stripes, and the warm texture of the woods. More importantly, I really like the neat arrangement of blackforest mounted antlers above the bed. This room has great Winter appeal without being a seasonal room.
I have always loved antlers in interiors and am glad to see them used in many new and different ways. Antlers are no longer just for the lodge aesthetic. They represent a great opportunity in sophitiscated, modern and urban interiors. Maybe it's the sculptural quality, the organic appeal or the fact that they are truly unexpected. I love how the trophy mount and the antler have been reinvented and are now available painted white, carved from wood, and made from resin, papier mache and even cardboard. I guess the latest trend is to paint your antlers white, a look that I really like when done well.
