I couldn't wait to share with you my favorite new fabric St. Jude Doveflight from artist, Mark Herald, available through Lucy Rose Design. I have always been a material girl so thought it only appropriate to start a new series called 'Textile Tuesdays' where I'll showcase my latest acquisition.
British born designer Lucy Rose Singh put together The Lucy Rose Design Collection to bring some of Britian's best hand-printed fabrics to the US. The fabrics are very unique, created by artists and designers and often printed by hand. It's that handmade quality that first attracted me to 'doveflight' designed by painter and printmaker Mark Herald. Taking his inspiration from the flora and fauna of the British countryside, Mark works across a number of mediums, producing limited edition lithographic and linocut prints, unique paintings, collages and hand-painted ceramics.
I created a bedroom design with 'Doveflight' as my starting inspiration.
{1} Helena Bed from Oly Studios {2} Accent fabrics from Gailbrath and Paul Textiles Seville Medallion and Trellis in Light Stone {3} Lamps from West Elm {4} Organic cotton pintuck duvet cover in 'slate' from West Elm {5} Gobi embroided Sheets from Serena and Lily {6} Keene carved Chest from Bungalow Classic {7} Stark Carpets {8} Pillow in 'Doveflight' linen {9} Lee Industries Chair from South of Market in Glyn Linen in 'earth'
To give the room an artsy vibe, I would definitely include some original art or a vintage poster like one of those old french posters featured recently on One King's Lane.
Here's a few pictures of artist, Mark Herald, creating the original art used to make 'Doveflight.'
